Please refrain from playing a carbon copy of an established fictional character from books/games/movies. Playing a character based on one is fine but do not make an exact duplicate. Using the name, looks and/or some mannerisms is acceptable to an extent, but don't go overboard.
2) FORBIDDEN CHARACTERS

Due to repeated abuse and power gaming, 'Dragon Ball Z' and 'Vampire: The Masquerade' characters may not be played in this channel.

Vampire:TM characters might be allowed after convincing an op that they're not breaking any other channel rules. The op has to make this agreement public to all other ops by the usual means. Any op might call on a re-evaluation through a normal voting among ops afterwards.

DBZ Chars do not have this option.

This Rule does not cover vampires in general just vampires or other none vampire characters made with the white wolf system.
3) ACCEPTANCE OF GODLIKE CHARACTERS

God-, Demigod-, or Avatar characters must have Op approval prior to being played (see the FAQ for definition of Op  approval). When questioned about your character, please be honest and courteous. If you are asked to tone down your character, please do so; we want you to be able to roleplay the widest possible variety of characters, but there must be limits set.
4) LIMITED TECH LEVEL

No futuristic characters are permitted with out modification . Weapons, technologies and other items  are forbidden if they can't be hidden for good and don't blend into the medieval fantasy setting of the channel. Time Travelers are allowed but this rule still applies to them as well as their equipment. Most Modern tech will be either disabled or turned to a magical device. Rules of thumb: If it wouldn't stand to Elfwood's Lothlorien gallery rules, it probably wouldn't have a go here either. 

For weapons and other items. if it can be used in the SCA it can be used here. if yoru unsure, ask an op.
5) DO NOT BRING PLOTS OR CHARACTERS FROM OTHER ROLE-PLAYING CHANNELS.

Gilded rose inn is not linked to any other Roleplay channel on the Internet. If you play your Character in more then one channel they can not mention anything they have gained from other channels or anyone they know or the other channels or places there in. 

If you wish to have your character know someone else's character that they know from another channel. make sure the mun wishes the same and that it is the same character as you know. But they can still not mention any place that is not related to the World of Rosepeak.

6) NO GODMODING, NO POWERGAMING, NO AUTO HITS, NO AUTO KILLS, NO AUTO HEALING, NO FORCED FIGHTS

No one likes a player whose character cannot be hit, can write Greek with one hand and Drowic with the other while playing the harmonica, etc. Characters must have limits to their abilities and skills. This is often known as Godmoding (GM) or Power gaming (PG) - don't do it.

Never pose an attack/action so that it automatically succeeds; always allow the target the ability to dodge or parry even the very basic things. If this can't be avoided due to the nuances of the English language be sure to ask the other player involved first. This is called Auto hitting. An auto hit to kill a character is called Auto kill, it includes abusing situations where the other player can't react.

Don't assume every character wants to be healed, sometimes for rp reasons someone would like to stay wounded or could be heavily injured by 'healing'. Ask permission of the player and sometimes in character as well to make sure that there are no disagreements. Healing is often a blessing from a deity or a gift, so use of incredible spells of resurrection on a daily basis and magical healing spells that will cure all the person's ills don't make for good RP most of the time or will even be considered Godmoding.

You can not force someone to fight you. The other player has a right to disagree with a fight. In that case, the fight won't happen. If the character is pulled into the fight nevertheless, the action counts as auto hit.
7) BREACH OF IC REGULATIONS/LAW

Your character is to heed the town's laws or has to face IC consequences for its actions. If you repeatedly let your character avoid those consequences without permission from an Op, this counts as Godmoding. IC laws are listed at the bottom of this page.
8) INN WIDE IC NOTIFICATIONS

There are cases where an action is sure to alert the entire Inn, irregardless of how in-depth the rest of the characters currently are. Such actions are to be posted with the word <Notice> in red. Each character currently present at the inn is to react to them.
9) NO FIGHTS WITHOUT GOOD REASON

Fights will, even in this setting, inevitably happen. We do ask that you do not start fights for the reason of "I want to fight" but that the fight actually be purposeful.
10) MOVE FIGHTS WHEN ASKED

When asked by an op or by the others in the channel to take the fight elsewhere please take it to our "arena" for fighting. Do not argue about it but comply right away. The Channel name for the "arena" is #Gilded_Rose_lists .
11) CAMPUS WARDS AND SPELLS

All Buildings on the campus ground have several wards and spells on them. a Complete list of those are bellow in the Addendum. These spells can NOT be broken by anyone no matter how powerful the char is. There is no arguing this point. Arguing  will get you kicked, insisting on that your char is able to  break them will get you Banned.
12) MAJOR PLOTS REQUIRE APPROVAL

Major plot lines must be approved by the owner before commencing. A major plot line is any plot that would affect the channel's setting or feel a great deal.
13) ORGANIZATIONS REQUIRE APPROVAL

Any groups, Guilds, Clans, etc. must be approved before being set up so that we don't end up with two rival groups vying (fighting) for power. This goes for new native races as well.

We all occasionally have to make a joke here and there regarding rp, even rule abiding ops will do it. It is simply asked that it be kept in moderation. If what you have to say leads to more conversation, take it to our out of character channel designedspecifically for this, #Gilded_Rose_OOC , or to a private conversation with the other.
15) HAVE PATIENCE WITH NEWBIES

Common courtesy is appreciated, especially with newbies. We were all newbies once.
16) NO OOC ADVERTISEMENTS UNLESS ALLOWED

Don't advertise other channels or webpages, unless it is a sub-channel of Gilded Rose, or has been allowed by an Op. This is an Inn only rule. it does not count in the OOC channel.
17) NO LANGUAGE SCRIPTS/NONE ENGLISH  LANGUAGES

 Do not use language scripts, mainly for the reason that it interrupts roleplay. It also prevents those who don't have the script to join in the roleplay.

Do not use foreign languages, real or made up. This is an English speaking channel and while we  know many chars may know other languages not all muns know the language. if your char knows it  please state that they are speaking a different  language in parentheses *IE (Drow) with the language  name inside them then post what they say in English, do not use the actual language.

Hacker talk *l88t, leet or whatever you want to call it* and Chat shortcut typing * u for You r for Are, ect* are also not to be used in Roleplay and Hacker talk is banned from use in the ooc room.
18) NO CAPITAL LETTERS

Don't use CAPITAL LETTERS, for more then one or two words; it's just as easy, especially on the eyes, to put 'shouting' or "loudly' in your post. If you want to stress something, put underscores (_) around the word.
19) NO NEEDLESS FLOODING

Flooding the channel will not be tolerated, and continued abuse will result in being reported to the IRC Ops.
20) NO EXTENSIVE SWEARING

Mild cursing and swearing is allowed in character if it adds to the roleplay. To an extent it is permitted OOC, but if asked, please don't use words others find offensive.

Certain words are banned from all use. If you wish to know what words please ask an op.
21) NO OFFENSIVE NICKNAMES

Please don't use offensive/explicit nicknames.
22) NO OPS BEGGING

Ops are earned by showing respect for the channel and the people within it. Don't beg.
23) LIMIT THE USE OF COLORS

Colors make your posts look more appealing and help separate spoken words from actions, but others choose not to use them, may have different color schemes than you or no colors at all. Either way, keep the intensity and use toned down. Basically, it has been found that the use of purple (6), teal (10), black (1) and blue (2) is quite adequate.

Do not use bolded or highlighted text at all.
24) LIMIT SEXUAL ROLEPLAY

It's inevitable; unless your character is removed from emotion or otherwise is uninterested, a romantic interest is likely to happen.

Kissing, hugging, etc. is allowed, but be discreet. If it threatens to turn intimate, please take it to a private room. And let's try to make the romantic roleplay... romantic! In other words, don't just have your char out for a role in the hay. Rose is NOT a cyber pick up joint. please keep the sexual content of your role plays down.
25) LIMIT YOUR CHARACTER DESCRIPTION & NUMBER OF SIMULTANEOUS POSTS

Limit any number of simultaneous posts to two at a time, this includes  descriptions and entrances. Wait a bit after entering before giving the  descy for others to post and then post your desy..or just rp your desy out  instead of posting a large paragraph for it. this is  for those of us that  have small screens and get flooded with larger posts.  Larger posts also can lock up some people's screens. a smaller post or  waiting between your posts for others to post just makes it easier and more comfortable for everyone in the  channel to roleplay
26) NO DRUG USE

The use of drug like substances for recreational purposes by a character is not permitted in Gilded Rose Inn or its associate channels. This kind of usage provides no real benefit for rp. Possession of the substance, or use of the substance for other purposes is not encouraged.

For this rule drugs are substances that are considered illegal to use in the United States. It does not cover alcohol or tobacco.

27) Other Scripts

Do not use scripts that have automatic popups that show up at odd times and spam the channels. This includes winamp song selections and the like.

Scripts that do odd things to your text, such as adding decorations to the ends of posts or changing how the font looks are also not aloud. 
 

Don't argue with Op's in channel. Private message them to calmly discuss any disagreements with a decision.
29) PROBLEMS WITH KICKS/BANS

Problems with kicks and bans should be taken to the channel owner Softpaw. Other Ops cannot remove a ban so don't even try to persuade them. If you wish to contest a ban please have a log of the incident. A meeting will be held with all ops available to discuss the lifting of the ban which you may attend. Badgering the ops after you have been banned will only make it worse. If you do not understand why you have been banned, the op who placed the ban will explain it; don't run to another op and complain of an unfair ban.
30) DISCREPANCIES WITH OPS

If you have a problem with an Op, take it to the owner.
31) IGNORING OPS

While in channel you can NOT have an op on ignore, for any reason. Ops must be able to give notices to all in channel and in pm. If it is found that you have an op on ignore then it is grounds for a ban until the ignore is removed.
