Ra`el appears to be in his late teens and has bronzed skin, grey eyes, a heedful of black feathers in lieu of hair and large black wings. Despite spending his days in the messy business of teaching husbandry, Ra`el prefers to look professional and arrives to work in gray slacks and quality black shirts modified for his wings. He keeps in his classroom closet spare clothing for when the learning leaves the classroom, but they also display a noted lack of color. Often, however, Ra`el is seen with one or two pink feathers tucked in amongst his own.
Ra`el and Miranda are angels from a world which has already reached its Armegeddon. Miranda was a Seraphim, unquestioningly singing the praises of the god of her panthion from each of four pairs of lips, her six pair of wings proudly splayed. So intent upon this duty that she thought of nothing else. Ra'el was of a much lower rank and only ever caught fleeting glances of Miranda, but it was enough to cause him to fall in love with her. A love that caused his expulsion from the heavens.
When the final war was being waged, a plan was put into motion to kill the Seraphim whose song bolstered the strength of believers, even though none could actually hear it. Ra'el caught wind of the plan and kidnapped Miranda; he was unwilling to see her die. Against her will he whisked her to Chaccone and had her magically altered to remove 5 pairs of her wings and three of her faces to hide that she was a Seraphim. They eventually settled in Rosepeak, where Ra`el thought they might not be found. Miranda’s only solace was the Agricultural building with it's beautiful gardens; Ra'el had enrolled them both as students. Anything to blend in.
As time passed Miranda accepted her new life she made small changes of her own. She magiced her wings so that they were not large enough to knock over plants and contented herself with singing only to the gardens rather than her deity. She and Ra'el, having all of time to learn, rose from the ranks of students to teachers and, eventually, Miranda was offered the position of Dean. By then her anger toward Ra'el and his love for her had dissipated in the wake of a strong work relationship; he was a natural choice for an assistant. When Miranda eventually left Chaconne to be married, Ra`el became Dean.
While Ra`el does spend more time in his office than Miranda ever used to, he still has interests ranging all over the campus. Still, he is not often difficult to find and enjoys troubleshooting for his students, teachers, or just for the fun of it. Ra`el enjoys a good puzzle despite his absentminded behavior. His fiancé Xylinia is all that he enjoys more.
