Softpaw's people are a magic bearing (the magic is genetic) race called Cattassan and they are one of the most powerful magic users  among the planes (different universes) . Softpaw is second only to her father in magic ability and fighting ability, but she does not realize this and  tries to talk things out instead of fighting. She also tends to suppress  a lot of her abilities and lets others do what they can first before taking action, she'd rather heal then harm. She does have a slight temper though and when in a fight .she relies upon magic blue lighting. and her sword. Her sword is magic and only visible and tangible when she needs it, she also has a bow and arrow, staff, shield, throwing knives, and boot knife that have the same ability. All weapons with a bladed edge are edged with a continuous single diamond and can penetrate most anything. She received this weapon after killing the Diamond Boned Dragon. A very old and evil dragon that had been guarding the sword and marauding villages. 
As royalty, she can change her fur/eye/hair color at will, but likes to keep it at green eyes, white fur, and blonde hair unless necessary. Also because she is royalty, she can shift form to almost completely human appearance, her eyes stay cat eyes and her ears are slightly pointed. She can also shift to any cat or part cat ( griffin, sphinx, cat things from Xanth, etc. ) that she knows of. Her people's job is to keep one world from invading and taking over another one. She has thirteen brothers and sisters and is the youngest girl, the third youngest of all. 
She dislikes being called by any sort of title ( something she gets from her Father ) and only those in her family call her Vannesa. To all others she is know by her middle name of Softpaw. All Cattassan have a descriptive middle name like this.. given to them when they are around four to six months and describes a physical feature of them. Her parents chose Softpaw because her hands where very soft.. more so then a normal baby's. 
She was quite the tomboy growing up and liked to be out with her brothers learning to use a sword then inside with her sisters learning to sew.. but she learned both mostly because her mother Ana ..a genteel Siamese ..insisted that she learn to be a proper princess. Softpaw was stubborn though. .and managed to talk her father.. then the rest of the knights of her people into letting her train to become one as well. And she succeeded in this and is now Cattassa's first and only female knight. 
When she was about six she was introduced to the son of one of the dukes, a Jazz Swiftpaw Reddington. They became fast friends and inseparable. Friend ship soon turned to love and they discovered they had a rare thing. a natural soul bond outside of marriage. They made plans to wed but He had to do something first.
At the ages of 19 and 18 the two where split, by a war with the neighboring kingdom of Caninumim. Jazz left for battle and, never returned. He was Presumed dead though no body was found.
The news of his disappearance and the loss of their soul bond link greatly upset her. To the point where three times she tried to take her own life not wishing to live with out him. After the third time her father cast a powerful spell on her and the world to make her forget their love and soul bond. 
Her many skills with sword and spells, her rank, her gentleness, her friendly manor and her beauty, all together made her hand one of the most sought after on the planet. Much to her chagrin. She hated being looked at and having her hand sought not for herself. but for her rank and skills and the honor that those after her hand thought they would get. The worst the them all was Barker. Barker was the crown prince of the neighboring kingdom of Canineium. A huge mastiff who was cruel to all and was determined to make Softpaw wed her.. by force if he had to. she despised him but was friends with his younger brother.. who was the exact opposite of him so she had to put up with him being around. 
Her Desire to find someone to love her for her caused her to leave Cattassa and lead her to another world and an Inn. There she met the half orc Wirric, who owned the inn and Fell in love with him. After a turmultuant romance they where wed. After a while she gave birth to A set of triplets, a week after their birth a woman gave birth to a child in the inn and died in childbirth. They took this child in and started to raise her as their own. 
After some time Wirric kept leaving, saying he was taking care of things from his past, he had been one of the best assassins out there but retired to run the inn they now owed Together. leaving her, Their children again and again. It was soon reveled that he was having an affair with another woman and she divorced him. 
She was shattered by this, divorce is rare for her kind, because of the soul bond. Only thanks to some dear friends, did she manage to pull through.
Then a miracle happened....Jazz returned. He wasn't dead..just in Hell on Animala. Eight years in a rare and now destroyed spot on their home world that blocked magic and even the soul bond. Held in a POW camp by Barker and his men, tormented and tortured, .all because Barker wanted her for himself. Barker lusted for her since They where little, somehow managed to get a load of Caninumim men together and waged war on her race..with out them knowing it was him. ,
Jazz managed to escaped and went to find her. right away, he knew what had happened with her and Wirric. just..not that she didn't know him. but Her father Has put in a fail safe to the spell. something that was special to Them a ..secret known only to them. That when brought up it would break the spell..and..it did and she remembered her love for him. They nursed each other back to health, her mentally him physically and mentally.
His time in the camp took his left ear and gave him gray streaks in his jet hair, as well as numerous other mental problems. But they where back together as should be. 
They took over running the first inn. But the town it was in soon became a place neither wished to live in. Upon news from her father that there was a large school in need of a new Headmistress she took the position and moved to Rosepeak with her family. 
Her and Jazz have since had another child together, Riff. As well as a number of adopted children.
