 How
do I connect to the channel? |
You have a few choices here.
The most common wa is to use a program
called Mirc or a program similar to it
to connect. We are located on the server listed at the top of this page.
You can connect to IRC servers with
Trillian as well. Again use the servers listed at the top of this page.
However if you just can not figure
out any of the IRC programs or are unable ti install one on your computer
we now offer a Java chat interface! Java
is standard on most computers these days so all you have to do to join
in now is click the link to the interface! |
| Do
I have to register my character to play here? |
No.
You do not. If you have a concern over is your character to powerful. simply
ask an Op. we have a different idea of what's to Powerful in our channel
then many channels do. but you are not required to register anything to
play here. we are a Free Form Channel. |
| Why
is GRI such a peaceful place ? |
There's
enough rp channels which concentrate on violence, we want to create and
run a haven for those who want to actually roleplay with out having to
worry about dodging fights every two minutes. |
| What
"future" items are allowed? |
Nothing
with electronics is allowed, the only gun we allow is a Flint lock, basically,
if it can't be made by a skilled blacksmith, it's a no go. For further
clarification on this, ask an OP about the item you are wanting to bring
in.
A good rule of thumb is, if the
SCA allows it, so do we. (more info on the SCA
here)
You will find /hear references to
modern things. As we do allow characters from future and past and modern
times to be played. They just can not bring any of their technology to
the world.

What is Rose's Time setting? |
Ok we get a little funny here, the year is the same as our own, HOWEVER
the TIME FRAME is a mix of anything pre-17th-century.

| How
powerful can my char be? |
We
ask that you get OP approval before playing a God, demigod or avatar of
a god char, otherwise we put no limits at the start, if we think your char
is to powerful for the setting and op will ask you to give detail about
it and then might ask you to tone it down some. |
| Are
(insert weapon and race) allowed? |
There
are no limits on races, and for weapons those would fall under the time
and tech rules |
| What
is "OP approval"? |
Op Approval (of a Char, plot line or Group) means you take your proposal
to an op ( The founder or a SOp Preferably, any op if no one else is around)
They will then take your request ot the other ops and you will need to
wait for there yes or no on the request. This can take time, and badgering
the ops about it, tends to make it, not in your favor of it happening.
Some plots/chars ops know
from the outset if they are allowed and will tell you by themselves right
when you ask if it's a yes or no. This is left to the ops discretion. |

WHat Is a Fjord? |
In
a Few Words...
Fjords are deep, glacially carved valleys now flooded by the sea. A fjord's
steep walls fall far below the surface of the water, making the fjord inlet
very deep. Some fjords in eastern Canada are up to 500 meters deep. There
are many fjords around the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador. In Quebec
the Saguenay Fjord is located off the northern shore of the St.-Lawrence
estuary.

I want to get something from the bar, What do I do? |
Ask
the Tender when one is about, otherwise self service.
Requirement to pay for drink remains. |

want my Character to become a Student / innworker / teacher who do I ask? |
For Students just have your Character ask any teacher, inn worker or Dean
to enroll.
For teachers Ask Softpaw in PM
first then have your Character ask her in the inn. Same is with innworker. |

Are Classes Role-played out? |
Classes
are not normally Rped out but some teacher do so occasionally. |

Is there a List of Classes? |
There
is no list of classes. This is to allow for more Freedom in play. |

dose MFFRP. RL, OOC, IC, MUN, RP, GM, DM, PG, SL mean? |
Mffrp
(Mfffrp) Medieval Free form Role Play (medieval Fantasy Free for Role
Play)
RL: Real Life
OOC: Out OF Character
IC: In Character
MUN: Short for Mundane,
means the person behind the chars.
RP: Roleplay
GM: GodModing, also can
mean GameMaster (see bellow)
DM: Dungeon master (person
running a Plot line)
PG: Powergaming
SL: Story line |

What is the kinds of money used and what are the amounts? |
That
is listed on the Price List. |
| I
RP in many channels Can I play the same Char here and bring plots
from other channels over? |
Yes and no. yes you can play the same Char here that you play in
other channels. but no you can not bring any plots over from other
channels. as you;ve seen above Rose is in its own world and
universe. The channel is not linked to any other RP channel
on the Internet.
Anything that is specific about
your char in the other channel can not be used in Rose *i.e. if its
a member of some Guard for the other channel they are not a
member of it in rose as that group of guard does not Exits in Rose* This
also goes for any IC relationships you are in unless
you and the mun of the other Char have agreed that the
relationship can continue in rose. but there is to be no mention
of places or things from other channels. Period. |
