Somewhere
around the year 200 AD in orbit above an Earth world in the Andean region
of what would be known as Peru, Consuelo was born. He did not know it yet,
but he and several other beings unusual to that planet would promote the
growth of a people only to see them scattered and forgotten until much
later. Of course, no one knew or had planned for that part of it.
Consuelo
was part of a carefully orchestrated plan by a more advanced race. They
had long been watching the Nazca people and had made attempts at communication,
but all were fruitless. After more careful observation, it was decided
they needed ambassadors. They chose creatures similar to those the Nazca
would recognize and altered their genetics for immeasurably longer life
spans. It was hoped that this would be a very long term project. They procured
the assistance of a willing Naga couple bearing the marks of a Peruvian
Red Tailed Boa and, a full eight months of conception later as opposed
to the typical five, Consuelo was born.
Consuelo
spent the next fifty or so years learning. He learned many things that
his tutors thought would be useful to the Nazca people below. Also, he
had to learn their culture and language. He never knew much at all about
the people who raised him; his teaching was geared toward creating in him
a teacher that was both beyond what the Nazca knew and yet familiar enough
that they would listen.
This
plan worked well, not only with Consuelo but with many other creatures.
Some of which became his friends. Consuelo had few human friends, though;
the Nazca people varied from treating him as a well respected teacher to
treating him as a son of the gods. Having been raised a humble student,
this distressed him, but he still fulfilled his purpose. He was a bridge
between the people and their mysterious benefactors from above for about
five hundred years. Other people often traveled through the area, but the
Nazca jealously guarded the secrets of their newfound knowledge.
Unfortunately,
several unforeseen natural disasters drove the Nazca away from their home.
Their people scattered and disappeared, folding in seamlessly with other
native people. Unable to do the same, Consuelo and his fellow teachers
were taken in again by those who sent them. After a time, those who wished
it were reintegrated into the population of other planets. For Consuelo
it was most difficult; he wished to teach still but craved a place where
he was not too unusual to befriend the natives. While there were many such
places, most either did not satisfy him or were too advanced to need his
knowledge. His most recent home in Rosepeak on the Gilded Rose Academy
Campus, however, seems suited to him. Neither his race, nor the surgery
techniques he teaches are new to the world so others are usually quite
comfortable around him. And his knowledge is still current enough for him
to feel useful.
