Long
after Ra`el fled his home with Miranda as his captive, James remained.
A fallen angel who still tried to cling to a sense of justice that only
ever seemed to lead to misfortune. He led the armies of Hell into Heaven
having been promised that the people would be freed of the overbearing
dictates of religion. Instead humanity was enslaved once they won and some
were even forced into Hell now that the demon horde had vacated it. Enraged
and betrayed, James then rose against the devil, killed him and stole his
power. Not yet satisfied he destroyed his brethren, Earth and Hell leaving
only Heaven with its gates open to all souls.
With
his task done and his sanity still far from him, James decided he was evil
and should be purged. But that left one task to complete first. Purging
the remaining two; the Seraphim and the Traitor. It only stood to reason,
in his fevered mind, that they were equally guilty of crimes past and future
and needed to be stopped. He traveled from world to world, intent on this
cause, before he found the town of Rosepeak on a somewhat primitive but
rich in magic world called Chaconne.
James’ plan slowed and eventually
came to a grinding halt due to the intervention of an anthro rabbit vampire
named Kerri. Having first led James to Miranda for an undisclosed fee,
she finally demanded her payment just as James was about to deal the final
blow. Ironically enough, her price was that Miranda live.
Having
given his word and being an honorable man, sane or not, James had no choice
but to let Miranda live and leave himself yet again without purpose. He
struggled daily with this lack of purpose and a value system he was no
longer certain is relevant. Though, due to the unwitting generosity of
a leprechaun, the pain and insanity that fueled his rage are now gone.
He has also found steady employment by Dean Char. He later married Kerri
and had a son they named Daniel, but Kerri has since fled to her home and
her first love. Her son would not be accepted by her people due to cultural
reasons, so her last contact with James was to give him custody of Daniel.
