For the first eight years of her life, Lena was a happy normal young human girl living with a large extended family in a small valley town. Then, in the fall of her 8th year, on the night of Samhain, or as it is also know as, All Hallow's Eve, the little red headed girl became the sole survivor of a night of pure terror. A large band of Vampires, working together, attacked her town and either killed, or turned all in it, save her. She alone was spared because just before they struck, she had crawled under the floorboards to find where her cat had gone to have its kittens. Why they didn't smell her out, is a mystery. But she watched her family be turned before her eyes, threw a knot in the wood. She stayed under the boards till morning, the blood of those that resisted and then, rended apart, dripping down abut her.
Come dawn she slowly crawled out, gagging and sobbing at the sight before her and fled on her small pony to the next town, warning them of what was happening. This town happened to have living in it a hunter and he organized the village into an attack and they held off the vampires when the band, that now included many that the girl had once loved, attacked again. The terrified young girl helped in this endeavor to the best that an eight year old could. Managing even then to kill one, that in the dark she had not, till looking upon it, known was the one that had been her mother.
The hunter of the village, seeing her courage and her growing hatred for Kindred took the lass under his wing and raised her up as his own, teaching her what he could of how to hunt those of the ranks of the children of the night. When she was eighteen she set out on her own to seek her own life as a hunter and to avenge her family, for she had sworn to track down and lay to a final rest all those that had been her family.
Armed not with the magics that many hunters of the kindred us, her weapons are of the traditional kinds, Holy water, a crossbow rigged to shoot sharpened bolts of wood.  And a dagger that was given to her by her adoptive father.  A most curious thing, the blade being a normal dagger blade, but the hilt being that of a sharpened wooden stake, it's sheath is made so that if the need came, it would come off of where it was attached to and serve as the handle when the hilt was being used instead of the blade.
Her sole item of magic is a simple garnet ring with two tiny diamonds on each side of it, the red gem glowing to alert her when a vampire was about. The ring had been a present from her grandmother on her last birthday before the attack, and she had a wizard cast the spell on it for her. It is her most precious possession.
For three years she wandered alone, going from town to town tracking down reports of vampires and exterminating them. In her twenty first year she met another Hunter and the two joined up, a young man named Niclous. Soon the two fell in love and made plans to wed. Then, for the second time in the woman's life, the one she loved was taken from her by those very same that they both hunted. Niclous, on the night before they where to wed, had went out for a walk, his mind full of the next days events, he did not hear the vampire slip up behind him, to wreck upon him what to a hunter of that kind would consider worse then death, the young man was turned. He did return that night to Lena, but eyes full of new bloodlust, he attacked her and she was forced to kill the one she had wanted to wed.
Fleeing the town the two had planned to settle in and protect; she burred her broken heart into her work. Again wandering around for years alone, until she came upon Rosepeak while in her twenty seventh year. She went to the inn, planning on only staying for a few days before moving on. But she met another, not a hunter this time, but a Cheery and odd naga man Named Hateya. She found him Irritating at first but he kept persisting on trying to befriend her, not an easy task as by now she had become very anti social and sealed over heart. So that  her heart could never be used to hurt again.
She had sworn to herself upon Niclous body to never fall in love again, fearing herself cursed to cause those she loved to become those she hunted. But Hateya's persistence and his gift for story telling soon cracked her heart and she began to love him, but told him not this. Until one night he told her that he would never be taken from her as the other, as due to what he is, he can not be turned. That night she confessed to him her love and found that he felt the same for her.
